Christians should be the most thankful people on the face of the planet. Period. If God never did another thing for us (which is highly unlikely), our salvation through Christ is enough reason to shout His praises year-round!

I challenge you this Thanksgiving to remember all that Christ has done for you. Think about what He did for you on the cross. Think about what He does for you now, for the Scriptures tell us in Hebrews 7:25 that He is our Intercessor–always present before the Father to intercede for us. Anything we need, He supplies. And He’s always just a prayer away. As you consider what Christ has done and continues to do for us, I pray that you won’t only express your thanks one day of the year, but every day. Lord, let our lives become an expression of thanksgiving for all that You have done–and continue to do–for us!
As Rebecca mentioned in one of her tweets, the fact that you woke up this morning, breathing on your own, without having to tell your heart, brain, or muscles what to do is more than enough of a reason to be in a constant state of thanksgiving. And if you have all of your senses, a job, hot water, electricity, a car… with gas in it (ha!), a cell phone, indoor plumbing, air conditioning, you are already among the richest people on the face of the planet (and if you don’t have some of these, return to my opening paragraph). If you have any doubts about how blessed we are, serve dinner at a shelter or go on a mission trip. Both of these opportunities will open your eyes to a bigger world out there–a world where the things we take for granted every minute of the day are considered gold. Consider that old hymn that goes something like this: “Count your blessings, name them one by one. Count your many blessings, see what God has done.”
